Positive: We booked our 3 night stay at Wild Origin Kabini on booking.com although it was not recommended by any friends nor were there were reviews on the site which implied it was a new-ish resort. When we arrived there we realised that it was a resort with 12 rooms and a pool located amidst some farmlands but not a very tree-dense landscape as it seems from the photos. We were the only guests in the place for the entire 3 days! (A tiger had killed a villager near Kabini and the Govt had suspended safaris since a month in the region and thus no occupancy in most resorts here). The vegetarian Kannada, Tamil and Malayali food was tasty and the friendly couple who own and run the place are attentive and try to take care of the needs of guests with their team of polite young male staff.
Negative: But for the tariff-bracket that they charge, there are a bunch of shortcomings: the rooms have no intercom, very shaky internet, the espresso coffee machine was still not functional, no professional laundry service.. to mention a few. If the price bracket was lower, perhaps one can overlook all of this.
Summary: Overall nice little hotel but overpriced considering the limited amenities / luxury as it is.
